Leadership Update
Announcement of Executive Director Transition for CGC
After more than fifteen years working tirelessly to further CGC’s mission and values, Jennifer Hope has announced she will be departing from her role as Executive Director at the end of April 2021.
During her tenure, Jenny made a lasting impression and led the organization with unwavering commitment to a partner-first approach to CGC’s mission.
A small sample of many accomplishments under her leadership include:
· Supported Partners to learn and develop new marketable skills
· Provided strong leadership to remote and multi-site Job Coaches
· Developed and implemented multiple CGC Strategic Plans
· Oversaw operations of various social enterprises in Toronto
· Built strong relationships across the sector
· Established annual fundraising campaign
During this time of change, we count on your continued support so that the partners we serve can count on us. Rest assured, the Board has a transition plan in place to ensure continuity of service. We remain guided by CGC’s mission: To empower adults with developmental disabilities to lead meaningful, fulfilled lives.
Please join us in congratulating and thanking Jenny for her long-standing service. Her vision, dedication, and leadership will be greatly missed by everyone. We wish her every success in her new role as Diversity and Inclusion Specialist with The Ontario Disability Employment Network (ODEN) odenetwork.com
Looking forward to sharing our next steps with you over the coming weeks
Sincerely,
Common Ground Co-operative’s Board of Directors
Jenny’s Message
To the staff, board, families and partners.
It is with my deepest gratitude that I thank each of you for being a part of my life at Common Ground Co-operative; first as Job Coach and then as your Executive Director. During our 15 years together we baked cookies, created the Bowl-a-thon, developed the barista program, taught service providers how to deliver our financial literacy program across the Province, and helped to make Food Handler Certification training available to people with developmental disabilities in Toronto and so much more. We said welcome to many and goodbye to some but through it all, it was your commitment, indomitable spirit, and self-determination that kept me going.
I look forward to what the future holds for the organization and leave you with a quote that I always favoured as one that embodies both the past and future of Common Ground Co-operative, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead
Thank you all for being so darn incredible.
